Judith Penner / Destiny’s Apparent

Set-up’s a disease, no cure. Etiolated drift. Masked ball, knees bent, rubella’s crinoline the source and multifaction of our spotlights.

Conflict’s mud sucks. Name Red or be whelmed by Blue! Crimson? Coral? Capsicum? Helpless Incarnadine flutters old romance, or sings it.

Resolution murmurs on the beach. Two flipflops redefined. A rubric so easy where love can make it three and ochre’s wedding branch an aria.

Poet and fiction writer Judith Penner has been a journalist in Canada and England, a bookseller, is the co-author of several non-fiction books, and continues to work as an editor. She lives in Vancouver.
