Pierre Coupey

PIERRE COUPEY received his BA from McGill University (1964), studied printmaking at Atelier 17 in Paris (1965), and received his MA from the University of British Columbia (1971). He was founding co-editor of The Georgia Straight and founding editor of The Capilano Review. His work has received awards, grants, and commissions, including grants from the Conseil des Arts du Québec, the Canada Council, the BC Arts Council, and the Audain Foundation for the Arts. He is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts and was recently made Faculty Emeritus, Capilano University. He exhibits nationally and internationally and his work is represented in private and public collections in Canada and abroad, including the permanent collections of the Belkin Art Gallery, Burnaby Art Gallery, Canada Council Art Bank, Gordon Smith Gallery of Canadian Art, Kelowna Art Gallery, Simon Fraser University Art Gallery, University of Lethbridge Art Gallery, Vancouver Art Gallery, and West Vancouver Art Museum, among others. His work is represented by Gallery Jones (Vancouver) and Odon Wagner Gallery (Toronto).
