Anne Boyer seminar & supper

On Saturday, February 27th, join us for a free seminar with visiting poet Anne Boyer followed by a friendly potluck supper for all who wish to stay.

SEMINAR DESCRIPTION: Anne Boyer will present an interpretive index of the approximately 107 references to women, girls, and women-like things in Capital, Volume 1. These include the wanton, the repulsive, the horny, the dying, the infanticidal, the fatally influenced, the independence loving, the commodity-like, and the economically predatory. She will also touch on communard approaches to cooking and post-housework imaginaries, and open up a discussion focused on round-about and disobedient modes of reading.

Anne Boyer was born in Topeka, Kansas, in 1973, grew up in Salina, Kansas, and was educated in the public libraries and universities of Kansas. Boyer works as an Assistant Professor of the Liberal Arts at the Kansas City Art Institute, a four year college of art and design, where she teaches with the poets Cyrus Console and Jordan Stempleman. In 2014, she was diagnosed with highly aggressive triple negative breast cancer which has been the source of her current project, a work about the politics of care in the age of precarity. Boyer lives in Kansas City.
