GROUP THERAPY with Jasmine Gibson

Saturday, April 30 @ 4:00-6:00pm

Join us on Saturday, April 30 at The Capilano Review offices for an afternoon of (something like) group therapy facilitated by visiting poet and mental-health worker Jasmine Gibson. Let's determine what we can make of CRISIS when gathered peaceably in CIRCLES. Let's figure out how best to prepare our irritations, troubles, and nightmares for sharing.

Sangria and tea will be served afterwards (in case we've accidentally exiled the festive spirits).

COST: $20 sliding scale (includes a one-year print subscription to The Capilano Review for yourself or a friend), but no one turned away for lack of funds.

Note that Jasmine will be reading with local poet Mercedes Eng on April 29 at a free, public reading at Gallery Gachet. Event info here.

Many thanks to the SFU Department of English and Writer in Residence Committee for their co-sponsorship of these events.

Jasmine Gibson is a Philly jawn now living in Brooklyn and a soon-to-be psychotherapist for all your gooey psychotic episodes that match the bipolar flows of capital. She spends her time thinking about sexy things like psychosis, desire, and freedom. She has written for Mask Magazine, LIES: A Journal of Materialist Feminism (Vol. II), Queen Mob’s Tea House, and The Capilano Review, and has published a chapbook, Drapetomania, off of Commune Editions.

Accessibility information:

There is a 42"-wide ramp leading to the entrance of the Arts Factory. All single doors (including the front entrance, bathroom door, and bathroom-stall doors) are 34". There is one fully-accessible stall in bathroom.

A lift is available for access to the second floor of the building, where this event will be held.

Parking is scarce in the area so we recommend public-transiting, biking, or walking if feasible.
