Yoriko Gillard

Yoriko Gillard is a contemporary artist, poet, arts- based researcher, and Japanese language and culture educator born and raised in Japan. She currently resides in Coquitlam on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the kwikwəƛə̓ m First Nation and is learning about the ongoing legacy of colonialism in Canada. Her work reflects one’s past-present-future relationships, particularly based on social expectations and responsibilities. Yoriko’s work can be found in her article “Living with a Liminal Mind” in Artizein: Arts and Teaching Journal 4, no. 1.
