Trae’s poem is the environment he sees in his eighteen years of being incarcerated, and how he’s missed the outside world, along with how different it will be when CSC decides to let him out. It’s been a long, tough journey toward positive change and how perfect he must be in order to be given a chance. Any mistake made, whether it be action or disagreement, gets documented and he/they are punished or shamed, having to start over, which is why he has called his poem “Maybe One Day.”
