Anne Low
Anne Low is an artist and weaver who lives on the coast of so-called British Columbia. She uses sculpture, installation, textiles, and printmaking to investigate how forms can become unhinged from historical context and speak to contemporary subjects, including taste, utility, the domestic, and the decorative. Recent solo exhibitions include: Bury Me, Franz Kaka, Toronto (2023); Figure like Hearse, SAAG, Lethbridge (2020); Chair for a Woman, Contemporary Art Gallery, Vancouver (2019), Paperstainer, Mercer Union, Toronto (2018); A Wall as a Table with Candlestick Legs, Tensta Konsthall, Stockholm (2018); and Witch with Comb, Artspeak, Vancouver (2017). Low was shortlisted for the Sobey Art Award in 2019 and the Loewe Craft Prize in 2017.
