from Waking Gates
Eli Howey is an artist and printmaker currently based in Toronto. They use traditional analogue printmaking techniques to create contemporary narrative art books and large-scale works on paper. The visual narrative goes beyond what can be seen in order to incorporate emotional and imagined spaces—the multiple dimensions of each situation. Waking Gates was developed through a yearlong residency at Open Studio in Toronto where Howey was the 2015-2016 Don Phillips scholar.
